Gopher Tortoise Day

Join an Advanced Florida Master Naturalist and Florida Fish and Wildlife Biologist to celebrate the amazing Gopher Tortoise!

Activities will be outside -rain or shine. There will be a coloring table, as well as a “burrow” for the little ones to crawl in and see what a gopher tortoise home looks like! There will be various roving presentations on gopher tortoise behaviors, anatomy and other fun facts for the adults. Gopher tortoises are fun to watch, but we must never lose sight of the fact that they are endangered. There will be an opportunity to hold and see the shells of specimens that lived within Koreshan State Park, as well as other interesting artifacts. The session is informal and attendees may come and go to suit their schedules. Talk is free with park entry fee.
