Bonita & Estero Magazine

Matheson Avenue
Bonita Springs, FL 34135

This small preserve is located along the north and south sides of Oak Creek in Bonita Springs, in south Lee County. Conservation 20/20 provided funding for the acquisition of this nearly 4-acre preserve, while the City of Bonita Springs manages the property.

According to Southwest Florida historians, Oak Creek was once the major tributary for the Imperial River and many pioneer families settled along its banks. Oak Creek is designated as an Outstanding Florida Waterway by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for its importance as a tributary to the health of Estero Bay.

Due to the small size of this preserve, there are no trails or fire lines but visitors may explore the site that is best accessed from Matheson Avenue.
