Lee Health Healthy Life Center is a place where a variety of services and education are offered to support healthy life habits. Among these numerous offerings are nutrition based culinary education, holistic treatment rooms, outdoor spaces including a teaching garden with herbs, spices, and local varieties that the dietitian incorporates in the culinary education classes, chair yoga, support group for caregivers, and rehab services that also include fall prevention.

It began in December 2015 at Coconut Point Mall and moved into its current footprint in 2018. There have always been two main focal points: education (classes and programs) and navigation (helping people get connected to what they need). The team at Lee Health Healthy Life Center is dedicated to building relationships with the community and helping others where they are on their wellness journey. But even though they want to begin where others are, the team is also steadfast in nudging them in the right direction and next steps for total wellness.

Carrie Bloemers, MS, RD, Director Healthy Life Center, shares her favorite part of working at Lee Health Healthy Life Center. As a registered dietitian, she loves to live out that passion and share her knowledge with the community. The center doesn’t charge for classes, so they’re a way to just help someone in the next phase of their health and wellness journey. Bloemers loves being able to help people who have just received a new diagnosis and connect them to services and people who are able to help.

There’s a large segment of older adults and snowbirds in the Bonita and Estero communities. But that doesn’t stop them from participating. Bloemers explains how inspired she always is every time she sees people in walkers and with canes show up for a chair yoga class. It’s heartwarming to see how engaged the community can be in wanting to stay healthy and not wanting to go to the hospital or have to stay home. In fact, the community pushes the team at the center to learn more about their fields and provide the best opportunities for the community.

If you’re interested in learning more about all of the classes, programs, and services offered at Lee Health Healthy Life Center, they can all be found on the website.
