On June 28, construction began off Corkscrew Road in East Lee County for a new shopping center. The Shoppes at Verdana Village will include a Publix supermarket, retail stores, and restaurants. Most folks in the community have to drive miles to get groceries. This new shopping center will make that drive much shorter.

Right now construction delays neighbors trying to get in and out, but once the shopping center is complete, it will be a welcome addition. Patrick Smith, one of the residents in the area shares, "We’re very excited. Hoping that there will be some good restaurants in there, looking forward to getting a golf cart at some point. I heard the Publix will be two stories, potentially; maybe kinda cool."

According to WMG Development, the shopping center will encompass about 78,000 square feet and will have additional outparcels for lease. No completion date has been released.
