Estero High School Students Tell the Story of 2020-21 School Year Through Unique Yearbook

Estero High School students had to miss out on some of the most enjoyable and memorable experiences of a typical high school student during the 2020-21 school year. Left without dances, in-person pep rallies, field trips, major high school sporting events, and the ability to interact in-person for clubs and activities, the Estero High School Class of 2021 had to turn to other ways to create memories.

One such way was to recap the year that we'll never forget through a unique yearbook, as reported by WINK News in early June.

One major difference in the yearbook this year is that many of the photos are of individuals rather than crowds. With remote learning and social distancing in effect, it was difficult to find many photos where students could safely and closely gather.

Instead, students sent in photos of family vacations or cool things they were doing at home, such as TikToks and family time. The committee admitted that the ideation of content was difficult. However, with the struggle came an opportunity to flex the creative muscles of the brain.

"Congratulations to our 20-21 Yearbook Staff for creating an amazing yearbook despite the challenges!" the Estero High School Twitter account (@EsteroHS) posted. "We are so proud of you!! #WildcatPride"

The yearbook's design took a digital approach, even framing many of the courtesy photos to look like an Instagram avatar. It was named "Archived" as to stock away a year that many will not soon forget.
