Lee County School District's leadership team took some time this week to pose in Bonita High School's new football jerseys. The Bull Sharks' freshman squad make their debut, along with the brand new school in 2017.

Last week, 50 local families attended an event, which hosted athletic physicals. Also in attendance were BSHS staff and Lee County schools superintendent Dr. Jason Miller.

The football program at Bonita Springs will field a junior varsity team in the 2018-19 season, and debut its varsity squad in 2019-20. The team is coached by Rich Dumbroski, who was formerly at the helm at Immokalee High School three years ago. He spent the following two seasons as the offensive coordinator at Golden Gate before taking a year off. Prior to all of that, Dumbroski was responsible for rebuilding the Estero High School program.

The first team meeting was held on July 17. Voluntary conditioning is set to begin soon.

According to the school's website, the football field dons a track inside its 2,100-seat stadium. The school will also have a gymnasium that seats 1,000 and "a weight room many colleges would envy."
