Royal Scoop's Bonita Springs location announced the winner of its annual flavor creation contest. Ten-year-old Rylan (pictured above) won a full year of free ice cream from the local shop for winning its 2017 competition. His flavor was "Sticky Fingers," which was described as a "creamy blend of caramel cups, brownie chunks and a sticky salted caramel swirl," as described by Naples News.

Other flavors in the competition included "Blueberry Muffin," which is meant to taste like its title describes, "Java the Fuge," a coffee/vanilla/fudge mix, "Salty Malt," which incorporates fudge and chocolate-covered pretzels, and "The Moo’st," which has crushed Reese’s cups, brownie chunks and a salted caramel swirl.

This was the third year of the competition, and more than a thousand people entered their ideas.

Additionally, this Sunday, July 16, is National Ice Cream Day. In celebration, the first 100 people to the store get a free scoop of ice cream. They will also hold their seventh annual Brain Freeze Ice Cream Eating Contest, with cash prizes available to the winner. Entrants must sign in by 1 p.m.

Enter the raffle (all day) to win free ice cream for a year. The winner will be drawn on Monday, July 17. Finally, help the community Blood Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the "pint for a pint blood drive." If you give a pint of blood, you receive a pint of ice cream in return.
